The U.S. Senate on May 4 voted 56-41 to confirm U.S. bankruptcy judge and Elmhurst resident LaShonda A. Hunt to be a federal-district court judge on the Chicago-based Northern District of Illinois. Hunt, who previously lived in Oak Park, still is awaiting her federal judicial commission. Once President Biden signs her judicial commission, she will be able to start hearing cases. Hunt is the third judge whom Biden has appointed to the Northern District of Illinois, and she replaces another Elmhurst resident, Judge Charles Norgle, who took a form of retirement in October.
